The mirror - a reflection of real city life, faces series.
Painted during the winter of 2006 and spring 2007 - inspired by the girl holding a mirror in
front of her window in those dark winter days grooming herself ready for
another day's shift. The painting was painted with imagination of a still life
model, not the actual face of the girl holding the mirror, nor did I actually
saw her face. The tonal work and atmosphere was the result of a quiet studies of
people's facial expressions and first time lucky when applying fat on lean
glazes.
